Reliance on Working Memory Is Low during Natural Behavior

Abstract
We demonstrate that reliance on working memory is low in an ecological task. As searching for items externally increases in effort, WM usage increases in a linear, but shallow fashion. We showcase the importance of investigating how the usage of cognitive processes unfolds within natural behavior.
