Parent Reports of Young Children’s Parasocial Relationships with Conversational Agents: Trusted Voices in Children’s Lives

Parent reports of young children's (n = 92) interactions with and feelings about conversational agents (e.g., Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant) were examined. Results indicated that young children talk to and develop close emotional ties with artificial beings, treating them as life-like entities with feelings and for whom they have feelings.
