Abstract

Using self-determination theory, this study examined associations among need thwarting, need frustration, need satisfaction, subjective vitality, work engagement, and online distraction. Results showed that although online distraction is associated with need frustration, it can buffer the adverse impact of need thwarting on need satisfaction, subjective vitality, and work engagement.
