Chronic Stress Is Linked to Increases in COVID-19 Symptoms

Chronic stress may increase susceptibility to viral infections. Using UCSF MyBPLab data (N= 23,770), we examined links among chronic stress, cardiac vagal tone, and COVID-19 symptoms during the first nine months of the pandemic. All direct associations were significant and vagal tone mediated the link between stress and symptoms.
