Do Animates Help to Implement Future Tasks? the Effect of Animacy in Prospective Memory

Research has shown that we recall and recognize animates better than inanimates. We report the first evidence that animates also provide an advantage (vs. inanimates) in prospective memory when they are used as the target. These results further support the idea that fitness-relevant information is preferentially used by our memory.
