Abstract

We investigated how gender-roles (i.e. masculinity and femininity) affect mental health in the general population from a sample of 741 adults, and if personality traits moderate these relationships. Our results suggest that having a gender-role profile contrary to your biological sex was associated with more anxious, depressive and suicidal symptoms.
