Abstract
Greater sensitivity to the absence of stress cues in the environment (cue absence) was significantly associated with fewer depressive symptoms. Among emotion regulation strategies, more use of expressive suppression and less use of acceptance mediated the relationship between cue absence and depression; rumination and cognitive reappraisal were not significant mediators.
