Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test an appraisal theory of joy. We theorized that when people appraise a situation as reconnecting them with someone/something important, they experience joy. Of five positive appraisal recall conditions, participants were more likely to recall memories of joy in the joy appraisal conditions.
