Abstract

This study revealed that age 4 effortful control (EC) and inhibitory control (IC) predicted age 6 child-reported loneliness. Age 4 negative affect (NA), EC, and attachment security (AS) predicted social competence (SC) at age 5. SC did not mediate the relation between age 4 variables and loneliness at age 6.
