Explicit and Implicit Biases Affect Individuals' Perceptions of ASD Knowledge

Prior research shows that biases toward Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are influenced by individuals’ perceptions of their ASD knowledge and reported experience with ASD. We found individuals with more direct experience of ASD and more accurate knowledge of ASD perceived themselves as more knowledgeable about ASD.
