The Role of Executive Function in Reading Comprehension: The Type of Comprehension Test Matters

We compared how adults’ executive function skills predicted reading comprehension across two types of comprehension measures: multiple-choice questions and free recall.  Executive function’s contribution to comprehension varied across the two comprehension measures.  Thus the comprehension measure used can impact the results and conclusions of practitioners and researchers.
