Abstract
Latent variable psychometric analyses (e.g., factor or composite reliability) are often performed separate from substantive theoretical analyses (e.g., regression hypothesis tests). Doing so creates the conditions for making multiple statistical inference errors. Here, we demonstrate how insufficient latent variable analyses can lead to both Type I and Type II errors.
