Relationship between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Risky or Illegal Behaviors in Adulthood

We assessed participants for risky and illegal behaviors based on two types of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), abuse and neglect or exposure to dysfunction. Risky and illegal behaviors are partially predicted by ACEs. The biggest predictors of risky and illegal behaviors were physical neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse.
