The Leadership Prototype: Does Race Affect Perceptions of Leadership Styles?

Abstract
This study examined race and leadership styles via fictional vignettes. The effects for leader race and leadership style were significant, but interaction between race and style were not significant. Participants preferred white leaders over the other races, and they preferred transformational leadership styles over transactional leadership styles.
