Abstract
We show a counterintuitive effect: White and Latinx men (N = 369) from high vs. low social class backgrounds showed increased performance and decreased identity-based evaluative concerns under social identity threat (i.e., so-called intellectual diagnosticity). We discuss the under-researched and contested nature of social class and the stereotype threat controversy.
