Abstract
“Other-oriented achievement motivation” is defined as personal striving to achieve for responding to others’ expectations. Ninety-seven Japanese undergraduates responded questionnaires about an other-oriented achievement motivation, goal orientations, and learning behaviors. Stepwise regression analysis suggested that an other-oriented achievement motivation facilitates achievement behaviors above and beyond a mastery goal orientation.
