All Social Media Is Not Created Equal: Instagram Use Negatively Predicts Loneliness but Finsta Use Positively Predicts Loneliness Among Emerging Adults

Finsta is a type of Instagram account where users can share intimate and unfiltered content with an audience of their close friends. In a sample of emerging adults, we found that Instagram use negatively predicts social loneliness, while Finsta use positively predicts social loneliness.
