"Which Odor Is Most Important to You?": The Emotional and Social Significance of Odors in College Students

College-aged participants were asked to name, categorize, and evaluate an odor that was most personally significant to them. Most participants named socially-relevant odors that were first encountered in early childhood. There were sex differences in odor quality but few correlations with standardized tests of olfactory function.
