Abstract
Previous research suggests gender based stereotype threat statements affect women's performance on math tests (Spencer, Steele, & Quinn, 1999). This study examines if gender of the facilitator delivering the threat matters, if autonomous motivation toward math or perceived math competence buffer the effect, and the mediating role of state anxiety.
