The Effect of Parenting Style and Family Structure on the Psychological Adjustment of African American College Students

Research on the effect of family structure and parenting style on African American undergraduates’ mental health is limited. Undergraduates from one and two parent families completed parenting, depression, and stress questionnaires. Family structure and parenting was shown to have an effect on depression, but not stress, in African American undergraduates.
