Abstract
Women can be motivated to confront sexism based on external reasons (e.g., disapproval of others). Going against these motivations may cause negative consequences. Results indicate, women with greater external motivation who do not confront sexism exhibit greater avoidance motivation and lower self-control compared to women with lower external motivation.
