Abstract
We describe the results of a randomized controlled trial (N=221) of a mobile app called Nod, which incorporates positive psychology and cognitive behavioral coping skills to address loneliness among first-year college students. Intent-to-treat analyses provide evidence that Nod buffers psychologically vulnerable students against heightened mid-semester loneliness and depressive symptoms.
