Abstract

Applicant faking continues to challenge recruiters. This study adopts the novel theoretical lens of Information Manipulation Theory to interpret applicants’ self-reports of purposeful image creation across common selection methods. It is argued that understanding how deception is accomplished is of both practical and conceptual importance.
