Abstract
Building on prior evidence that the alpha power during the rest is indicative of self-referential processing, we tested whether the construal of the self as independent would be associated with EEG alpha power. We found this association among Americans, Taiwanese, and Japanese, especially in the midline parietal-occipital region.
