Abstract

The creative process involves dynamic choices between persistence and flexibility, yet such choices have rarely been objectively quantified. We developed novel measures of creativity-related cognitive agility, and found that individuals’ choices to work persistently on a sub-task, versus shifting to a different sub-task, contribute to different aspects of creativity.
