Abstract
We examined the career aspirations and justifications of young children, focusing on gender differences. Girls were more likely to choose female-dominated careers and give altruistic reasons for their careers, and boys were more likely to give economic reasons—suggesting that children are influenced by gender stereotypes when considering future careers.
