Abstract
Based on Baltes’ selection, optimization, compensation tripartite conceptualization of intentional self-regulation (ISR), this study found that family support was a negative predictor whereas self-representations positively predicted ISR. Self-representations explained variability in ISR above and beyond family support. Findings inform about contextual and individual-level predictors of intentional self-regulation in Hispanic adolescents.
