Style Matters: Perceptions of Friendly Vs. Straightforward Comments on Student Essays

In an effort to study the effects of language professors use when grading, participants read the comments on three different essays by either a male or female professor who wrote either straightforward or friendly comments. Results indicated that the style of the comment affects the overall evaluation of a professor.
