Gun Safety Perceptions and Identifying with the Gun Culture Explain Political Differences in Gun Policy Support

Political liberals are more likely than political conservatives to support restrictive gun policies. We found that perceiving guns as a source (versus threat) to safety and endorsing greater gun culture beliefs fully explained the relationship between political ideology and gun policy positions.
