Parental Scaffolding during Infancy Predicts Toddlers’ Inhibitory Control; Effect Is Stronger for Girls Than for Boys

Abstract
The present study found a relationship between parental scaffolding during infancy and inhibitory control at 24 months of age, which was qualified by an interaction with infant sex. These results suggest that scaffolding behaviors as early as during infancy make a positive impact on children’s self-regulatory abilities.
