Abstract

Qualitative aspects of semantic verbal fluency performance (clustering, switching) have been criticized for the subjectivity of their scoring. Interviewing examinees post-hoc to ascertain their intended clusterings and switchings is one suggested remedy. We compare traditional and interview-based scoring, including interrater reliability, validity, and demand characteristics in the latter.
