Predicting Performance: Illusion of Knowing or Lack of Confidence?

The present study examined prospective and retrospective self-assessment of test performance. Poor-performing students’ estimates of performance were inflated but less confident, thereby questioning the key assumption of the illusion-of-knowing phenomenon that they are unaware of not knowing.
