Abstract
We evaluated the effects of preferred music, non-preferred music, and classical music on college students’ cognitive test performance. Preferred music did not result in better subsequent reading comprehension than non-preferred popular music or Mozart, but we did document a positive effect of listening to preferred music on participants’ mood.
