Rich-Get-Richer Effect: Prior Knowledge Enhances Learning of New Information

Abstract
The outcomes of the present research demonstrated that prior knowledge in a specific domain (i.e., football or cooking) selectively enhanced students’ learning of new information from that domain. Moreover, students’ curiosity to learn the new information appears to play an important role in this relationship.
