Job Applicant Reactions to AI-Based Selection: A Double-Edged Sword

Abstract
We show that using artificial intelligence (AI)-based hiring simultaneously damages job applicants’ perceptions of hiring processes and hiring organizations due to applicants’ lowered locus of control, especially those not hired, but improves those same perceptions due to the stability attributed to AI-based hiring decisions, regardless of whether they are hired.
