Abstract

We used the NICHD-SECCYD (N = 1,273) to examine direct and indirect associations between socioeconomic status, preschool executive functions, and first-grade achievement. We found parent education and working memory to be uniquely and most predictive of math and reading, and working memory mediated the association between parent education and math.
