Abstract
Vignettes of escalating intimacy and open-ended questions examined social dynamics and perceptions of date rape. The male actor was perceived as more interested in sex. Female participants were more likely to perceive behavior as rape with higher inter-rater agreement. Qualitative findings and suitability of design for cross-cultural research is discussed.
