Racial Ambivalence? Benevolent Sexism Helps White Women More Than Black Women in a Sexual Assault Case

Abstract
Ambivalent sexism may apply differently to White and Black women when offering to intervene in a potential sexual assault. Adhering to shifting standards theory, those high in benevolent sexism (BS) were more likely to help a White woman than a Black woman, while those low in BS helped both equally.
