Abstract
Americans associate science with men. Would attending an all-girls academy undermine science-specific gender stereotypes? 395 female students in a single-sex and 497 in a coeducational school “drew a scientist” and explained his/her duties. Girls who better understood science careers drew more female scientists; so did girls at the single-sex academy.
