I Mined the Gap: Reducing the Gap between Student and Instructor Expectations to Promote Student Success

Abstract
Instructors and students alike are surprised and dismayed by poor grades, but we can use psychology to teach psychology. Insights based on student data from an introductory psychology course and an intensive writing course are presented, with strategies for explicitly reducing the gap between student expectations and college demands discussed.
