Does sharing memories make us feel closer? The roles of memory type and culture

Abstract
This study examined the relation of memory sharing to perceived relationship closeness as a function of memory type and culture. European-American participants felt closer to a person who shared specific autobiographical memories than other types of memories, whereas Asians felt closer to a person for any type of memory sharing.
