Abstract

We quantified the bias in the descriptive norm perception regarding defecation practices among respondents in Bihar, India. We found that respondents who defecate in the open are more likely to overestimate open defecation prevalence, whereas exclusive toilet users tend to think toilet use is more common than it actually is.
