Abstract

Despite the ubiquity of morbid material in entertainment, research on morbid curiosity is largely absent from psychological literature. Across surveys and behavioral studies, I find that morbid curiosity exhibits a four-factor structure including: 1) Motives of Dangerous People, 2) Unknown or Supernatural Danger, 3) Social Violence, and 4) Body Violation.
