Are We Creating a Society of Smart Fools? Lessons From 40+ Years of Research on Human Intelligence, Creativity, and Wisdom
The good news: Standardized tests of intelligence and academic preparation are modest to moderate predictors of academic success. The bad news: The tests are relatively poor predictors of skills in scientific reasoning, creativity, common sense, wisdom, and ethical reasoning and behavior. Do we really want to create a society of smart fools? Have we?
