Interdependence, American Style
Interdependence pervades many U.S. cultures and psyches. Yet White mainstream American college-educated cultures emphasize independence. As a result, many Americans with power and status have less practice with interdependence. Promoting interdependence can not only bridge cultural divides within the U.S., but also enhance individual motivation and performance.
