Is Anything Really Sacred?: Group Beliefs Can Erode Sacred Values
How can values which individuals treat as sacred and inviolable change rapidly at a societal level? This symposium explores the tension between group beliefs and one’s adherence sacred values. Results suggest despite their “infinite value” sacred values can easily erode. Implications for intergroup conflict and socio-political institutions are discussed.
