Psychological Foundations of Group Polarization

Friday, May 26, 2017 · Boston, MA

Social

This symposium explores the psychological foundations of group polarization. Group membership and segregation shape misperceptions of and inaccurate beliefs about in-groups and out-groups. These misperceptions then lead to overestimates of polarization and future (false) consensus, further dividing “us” and “them.”
