Abstract
Researchers have debated the locus of age effects on speech comprehension, with Caplan and Waters (1999) notably arguing that comprehension itself is unaffected by the cognitive abilities that change with aging. The present study tested this hypothesis by manipulating syntactic complexity and agency distance using the on-line method of eye-tracking.
