Abstract

Executive functioning behavioral competencies as measured by the EFI (Executive
Functioning Index) were found to be negatively associated with drug abuse and
psychiatric treatment histories in this national sample (N = 613). The relative risks
of mental health problems were raised substantially among respondents with low
EFI subscale scores.
