Purchase College Announces Grant to Support Underrepresented STEM Scholars

The Purchase College of the State University of New York announces its Maximizing Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (MARC U-STAR) Honors Program, supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

The program is designed to develop the academic, social, and economic capital of underrepresented STEM students interested in pursuing careers in the biomedical sciences. Purchase joins 53 other universities that currently have MARC U-STAR programs. The program will promote research training and mentoring opportunities, support students’ doctoral pursuits, and help pave the way for future biomedical scientists. In addition, the program will improve STEM education for all students by providing faculty with training in culturally sensitive pedagogy and supporting curriculum development.
